Add Page Numbers
Stamp page numbers on a PDF before you send or print it. Choose where they sit, what the first number is, and how the number reads. No sign-up, and nothing is uploaded: the work happens on your device.

One PDF at a time. Adding another file replaces the one in the list.
Numbering
Preview of the stamp: "1"
Numbers are printed in Helvetica, a standard PDF font, so the file opens the same way everywhere. In "Page 3 of 12" style formats, the second number is the last printed number, which changes if you set a different starting number.

How it works
Your browser does the work
When you add a PDF, an open-source library (pdf-lib, MIT licensed, stored on this site) loads and reads the file on your device. It then draws the number you chose at the bottom of each page as real text, in the standard Helvetica font. The rest of each page is left as it was: the numbering does not re-render or compress anything. There is no server involved at any step.
Guide
Picking settings
- Forms and applications: bottom centre with the plain format is what most portals and offices expect.
- Reports with a cover: tick "Skip the first page" so the cover stays clean and the next page starts at your starting number.
- Continuing a document: if this file follows another one, set the starting number to the next number in sequence and use "Page 3 of 12" only if the total still makes sense.
- Password-protected files: this tool cannot open them. Open the file with its password in your browser, Print → Save as PDF, and use that copy.
Questions
Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?
No. The numbers are added in your browser, on your device. There is no server receiving your documents, which you can verify by loading this page, going offline, and numbering a PDF anyway.
Can it open a password-protected PDF?
No. A protected PDF cannot be read without its password, and this tool has no way to ask for one. To use a protected file here, open it in your browser with the password, then use Print and Save as PDF to make an unprotected copy, and add that copy instead.
Can I remove the numbers later?
Not from the saved file. The numbers are drawn onto each page as real text, so keep your original PDF if you might want an unnumbered copy later. This tool never changes the original: it downloads a new file with -numbered at the end of the name.
What does the bottom corners position mean?
It follows the layout of a printed book. Odd pages (1, 3, 5) carry the number at the bottom right and even pages at the bottom left, so the number always sits at the outside edge of the page.
